Every six months, for four days Florence becomes the capital of style thanks to Pitti Uomo, the largest fair in the world dedicated to men’s clothing.
The swarm of well-dressed gents who descend on Florence at this time are all waiting to attend the trade show Pitti Uomo, a biannual gathering for editors, retailers, brands, and models from around the world.
The global success of Pitti Uomo began back in the 1950s, more precisely on February 12, 1951. That is the date when Giovanni Battista Giorgini organized the First Italian High Fashion Show in his Villa Torrigiani, which brought together the greatest Italian stylists of the time to appear before journalists and American buyers who came directly from Paris after the high fashion shows.
The number of memorable shows since then has been phenomenal.
Ermanno Scervino fashion shows are unforgettable.
In January 2013 he paraded the most famous models of the fashion industry in the Salone dei Cinquecento under Vasari’s frescoes illuminated with video projections that emphasized the battle scenes. High drama all the way!
Among the countless shows that have made the history of Pitti Uomo are important names such as Roberto Cavalli, who in 2006 had Naomi Campbell triumph over the Ponte Vecchio in an emerald green dress.
