To jumpstart your Instagram inspiration we have decided to interview Cheryl Rocha from @cherylrocha. Here at Olivella we always search the Instagram for inspiring content, and when we stumbled upon her account we couldn’t help but click that follow button.
1) How did you develop an interest in fashion, beauty, and travel?
I have always had passion for fashion and beauty since I was a kid. I was very into arts, drawing and learning musical instruments when I was a kid. I used to often play dressing up and doing makeup with my sisters. I remember when we were just kids, we would go and try out so many clothes in the fitting room and just have fun styling and posing. It’s like a paradise playground for me.
When Instagram was not a thing back in the days, I found all my fashion inspiration through magazines. I used to read so many fashion magazines to see what were in trend and what was new.
To me, making myself feel beautiful is so important, it literally builds up my confidence, the way I talk and present myself. I am the one who will be spending the rest of my life with, so l need to love myself. And this is my form of self love.
As for travelling, it is such a big part of my life. I love traveling around the world to explore new corners of the globe, trying out different cuisines and just to see the world to find inspiration. It was always a dream for me when I was a kid and I am blessed to be able to travel to different countries to experience so many different things.
Travelling opens my mind, changes my perception and approach to so many different things in many different levels. It brings so much memory that one can never forget. And the feeling is so good that it keeps me moving forward.
2) Not only you have an Instagram account, but you also have a YouTube channel – which is a lot of work. What does a “day in the life of Cheryl” look like?
Yes, it does require a lot of work especially my youtube channel. Ultimately, it all comes down to how you plan your day, and really stick to your schedule. That really helps accomplish tasks in a more efficient way even though sometimes it may seem a lot of work.
In the creativity space, keeping a good positive mindset is really important to me because that’s when I find myself the most effective and efficient. Hence, I believe how you kick start your day pretty much determines the rest of your day.
Ever since I have been working for myself, I have been trying to maintain a good morning routine to kick start my day well. I am a coffee person, so a morning coffee is very important to me and then I will do a 30 mins workout and get myself a good breakfast meal.
The rest of my day is usually all about creating contents, filming, shooting, editing and finding ideas and inspiration. Also, ever since the pandemic, I started loving cooking so I cook very often with my partner at home.
3) Who is your fashion icon?
Gigi Hadid has always been my fashion icon. I love her style and her personality so much. Although she is a supermodel, she always looks so down to earth. Her style has the perfect blend of easygoing attitude and sexy elegance. And her looks are always so chic.
4) Do you use any natural remedy in your beauty routine?
Since I was younger, my mom always tell me to wash my face with rice water once a day because it promotes collagen growth in the face. It helps to calm your skin and reduce inflammation, making it ideal for acne-prone skin.
5) As an Instagrammer and YouTuber, what do you do when you switch off your phone/laptop?
I would not say I am very addicted to phone/laptop, I actually really enjoy spending my time without my phone and laptop. It’s the time where I feel like I can completely relax. I’d like to just walk around or sit in a cafe with my partner and have a really engaging conversation together. When the weather is good, we like to go to the garden to have a small picnic, just eating and talking about our plan and futures.
Also, I recently just moved to Dubai, so when I don’t use my phone/ laptop, I am exploring the city, and getting myself to familiarise the environment.
